    Should do this

I get $1 coins out of the bank and spend them as often as possible. My thinking: no one’s going to get used to the idea until they start seeing these coins in circulation more.

    Should not do this

I’m all for loosing the penny, but not the $1 bill…

    Should do this

Not sure about the pennies, but I’m all for getting rid of the dollar bill. I agree with Matt Wright; when I was in Europe several years ago, the smallest bill was, I believe, the 5 EURO note. The one and two EURO coins were very nice.

Nix the dollar bill; if people want bills, bring back the two dollar bill, but move to coins for anything smaller.

    Should do this

And pennies (and nickels I think) are actually worth less as currency than as metal.

    Should do this

Just got back from Montreal, and am always surprised how nice it is to use $1 and $2 coins instead of bills in Europe and Canada. I get tired of dealing with all the pennies as well – millions of americans have millions of pounds of metal sitting in their draws and on their dressers. What a waste.
